A bronze sculpture of Mary with the infant Jesus. Mary is very young, cradling her child in a protective embrace. The tilt of her head, the meditative expression on her face, and her enclosed posture reveal her prescient understanding of the majesty and suffering that awaits this child, revealed in Simeon's prophetic words in Luke 2:34-35: "This child is destined for the falling and rising of many in Israel…and a sword shall pierce your own soul also."
The sculpture is an edition of 10, with casts in 5 locations across the country.
