The second window we find the familiar story of the sower of good seed. Priests and deacons proclaim the living Word, as a farmer sows seeds (Mark 4). It is not their Word, not their seed. They are invited to give it away, to plant it in the hearts of God’s people. In the Sacrament of Orders, we see fulfillment of God’s plan for leaving servant-leaders to nurture His Church, to instruct the hearts of the people, to sow the Word.
