St. Joseph Reredos

Location: Marshall, Texas
Completed: 2011

Inspired by the historic altar piece which was destroyed in 1972, this reredos expands on the original design in order to conceal the damaged wall tiles and bring greater focus and unity to the space. The 19' tall reredos serves as a backdrop for the Ordinary Form celebrated at the free standing altar (also by G.R.Hoelzeman Studios). The two are linked by a unified aesthetic consistent with the historic architecture.
