Advent at The Norbertine Community

The Norbertine Community of Santa Maria de la Vid Abbey began in 1985 as a mission of St Norbert Abbey in Wisconsin. With a strong commitment to modern liturgical architecture and art, St Maria de la Vid Church was begun in 1998. A few years later, the community commissioned new sets of vestments and paraments specifically for this church, starting with Advent. The base fabric of the vestments is purple superfine gabardine wool. The hand-painted silk paraments are violet, with touches of blue, and the accent pieces are of various purple and blue/purple fabrics from around the world. Pamela T Hardiman Albuquerque, NM
