Salvation Army Chapel

Location: Ashland, Ohio
Completed: 2009

Chapel:
The Cross is the focal point of the exterior window, with sunrise colors – suggestive of the hope and promise of a new day – supporting it. White glasses cradle the cross, lifting it up for all to behold. Small, clear glass jewels are imbedded within the lead lines, rising vertically to symbolize prayers rising to heaven.

Entryway:
With clear, textured glasses and whites, the smaller, interior window delicately separates the chapel from the entry hall. The glasses create a sense of open airiness, while lending privacy to those within the chapel. The design theme is based on Salvation Army’s ‘Catch the Spirit’. Flowing, dancing lines and forms are used to capture this celebratory theme.
